I can not connect remotely to my windows computer

Jerry Bergner
asked this on August 03, 2010 05:18

It either hangs on the verification screen, or immediately returns to the home screen.

I have tried using the default "desktop" vnc password, and I have tried changing it via the admin screen, but neither seem to help....

there are 2 listtings for my computer on the connect screen, they both appear the same, in case that has any significance.

Would greatly appreciate help with this

Please enable the "Allow loopback connections" option in Ultra VNC  (see attached image).  The password you enter on this screen is the password you would use.

Thanks for the reply!

I tried this. Check off the box as indicated for allow loopback etc.

re entered my password in both boxes and clicked apply.

I tried to connect via my ipad.

Each time it tries to connect, get a quick authenticating screen,

then it flips right back to the start or home screen

showing last connection: never

Connection terminated

I tried a reboot of my desktop and then tried connection agian, with same result.

I now have apparently similar entries for my computer on the left hand choice bar under the Gmail account icon (which does show signed in.

All three show same computer name. I have tried all three with same result.

Thanks,

Jerry Bergner

Also, if unsure what to do next how might I uninstall and reinstall the program on my desktop computer making sure all registry entries are deleted. If I remove and reinstall the app on my iPad Will that also "start fresh" Thanks Jerry

I have the same issue.  The log file for the vnc viewer does not really provide any additional information either.  Is there something else we should try.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the application on both the ipad and the computer and that did not work.

Thanks.

are you guys from antecea going to fix this? I've payed A$ 18.99 for this app and can't use the feature I need the most that is VNC into Windows machines. simply doesn't work, giving me Incorrect Password.

I didn't rate your app yet but I WILL and I hope you guys fix it before I do, otherwise I will write a big thing about it!

Antecea Helpdesk for Desktop, Cloud, Files, and Easy Connect

Hi ,

@Jerry Bergner  & James L. Shelton :  Are you running firewall on your computer? If YES then please make sure that your firewall is not blocking  " Easy Connect application, UVNC application, port number 5900 on which NC server is running, and your computer " to get connected. As an example screenshot is attached for you.

You can delete and reinstall Easy Connect and UVNC application on your computer. To delete Easy Connect and UVNC application from your computer tap " CTRL+ALT+DEL " button to bring windows task manager. In window task manager kill the process of Easy Connect and UVNC application if they are in running process. Now delete the folders of Easy Connect and UVNC from your computer. Remove it from trash also and restart your computer.

Now to install and run Easy Connect and UVNC on your computer please follow each instructions clearly given on this link : http://antecea.zendesk.com/entries/253762-desktop-connect-steps-to-install-easy-connect-for-windows-and-the-free-uvnc-server-to-remotely-contr   [ Please ask us if you have any doubt or problem on any steps in the link ]

Try with Easy Connect default  VNC password " desktop ". Also configure your UVNC application settings under " admin properties" according to the link given in step 6 of the above given link.  " Allow loopback connections " and " Allow socket connections " options should be checked. Also configure your firewall ( if you are running / or Windows firewall )  as described above with the given screenshot.

Please reply us if it helps

Hi Andy,

Your solution worked, but I saw somewhere in your website that it could be used with UltraVNC. Maybe you guys are planing to fix it or maybe you can remove that from the website?

Tks,

Bruno

Was getting very frustrated trying to get things to work consistently until I went to cnet.com. They suggested using TightVNC with this paid app. I uninstalled ultraVNC and used TightVNC instead. Works much better and is easier to use. I will know soon enough if it works to wake up a computer with a LAN hookup. If it doesn't, then it will not have been worth the money spent. I will let you all know soon, and I will certainly rank the app on iTunes and on cnet.com.
